Android/iOS operating system handsets much preferred as compared to other OS handsets

As desktop or Laptop computers controlled by Linux or Windows operating system , a mobile operating system (Mobile OS) is the software platform on top of which other programs can run on mobile devices.

The operating system is responsible for determining the functions and features that are available on your device such as thumb wheel, WAP, keyboards, sync with applications, email, text messaging and many more.

The mobile OS will also find out which third-party applications (mobile apps) can be used on your device.

Different types of Mobile Operating Systems

Android OS (Google Inc)

Android mobile operating system is Google's open and free software that includes an operating system, middleware and also key applications for use on mobile devices including smartphones. It has different Android versions like KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow and Nougat. Nougat is the latest version from 7.0 to 7.1.2. With each new version includes enhancements and improvements.

BlackBerry OS

BlackBerry OS is a mobile OS developed by Blackberry for its Blackberry line of Smartphone devices.

iPhone OS / iOS (Apple)

Apple's iPhone OS was developed for use on its iPhone devices. The OS is supported on number of Apple devices including iPhone, iPad, iPad 2 and iPod Touch. The iOS is available only on Apple's own manufactured devices.

Symbian OS (Nokia)

It offers a high level of integration with communication and personal information management functionality. Symbian was a mobile OS and computing platform designed for smartphones.

WebOS (Palm/HP)

This OS runs on Linux kernel. WebOS was developed initially by Palm which was acquired by HP.

Windows Mobile (Windows Phone)

Windows Mobile is Microsoft's mobile OS used in smartphones and mobile devices - with or without touchscreens.

As per the market research Android smartphones sold with 81.7%  in 2016Q4 , which is followed by iOS with 17.9%.

There are so many Mobiles launched on Android platform. Android mobile phones have great demand in the market and also having great features, utilities and reasonable costs.
